Life in Rarotanga

An Afternoon in Summer – My Year on a South Sea Island, Doing Nothing, Gaining Everything, and Finally Falling in Love  by Kathy Giuffre

One of the best titles.

With Nice old landlady, flowers everywhere, not-so-many-overwhelming-choices, all those raniy and sunny days, life in Rarotanga, Cook Islands seems slow and simply. I can really understand what the author is trying to say when she stated that they encountered with culture shock after came back to the US. I believe the reverse culture shock happens to everyone who grows up in a rural area yet choose to work in metropolis. Well I don’t waaant to live in an isolated island really, but still, to have a vacation there might be a good idea.
