The World of Prediction

The Signal and the Noise – Why So Many Predictions Fail but Some Don’t  by Nate Silver
Audio book read by Mike Chamberlain

I started this audio book in January cleaning my apartment while on vacation in China. The memory is so vivid yet I left this book off at the very beginning of chapter one because it is a 14-hours one, and I need to make plans of the vacation to Australia. Coming back to it in March, I found the world in a pandemic.

The Signal and the Noise covers predictions for sports, weather, market, computer chess, and terrorism attack. It is helpful to get to know some underlying concerns among the western public, thus understand why their very first reaction to the virus is a fishy conspiracy.
